“COMFORTED SUBSISTENCE”
ink/paper/LOVE.
somewhere within all of us we are experiencing something that is uncomfortable - confusion, fear, worry, sadness, a hopelessness, a lack of motivation and maybe even a lack of affection; whenever we individually feel any sense of emotional discomfort, it is easy to simultaneously feel alone in the experience of it - we don’t have written on us “i am scared of aging” or “i don’t feel that i matter”, so we exist amongst our community carrying the weight of our discomfort whilst having no insight into what others within it are also experiencing. sometimes all we need is a sign to give us that hope, nudge us to present/smile or be silly, make us feel acknowledged, help us feel comforted or validated and remind us that we are not alone in it all - we can become so engulfed in the fear/worry/confusion, etc. that we don’t realize we are neglecting the people close to us, robotically going through the motions to keep us afloat, aren’t being as compassionate as we could be or we forget the simplicity of saying ‘i love you’, asking ‘why’, playing/being silly, genuinely listening to others and giving honest answers to the condition of how we truly are.
in “comforted subsistence” my aim was to anonymously provide those warm ‘signs’ to people throughout my community; the process was executed on an intuitive basis wherein i chose each message based on what i felt the person who owned the vehicle needed to hear. maybe in the end the message placed did/didn’t apply to the person, but at the very least… it made them feel something - a little more cared for.
how are you feeling today?
